How can I remove a background color?

I have Pro7 and I am trying to edit a graphic. I want to remove the background color (white), or pop out an image.

In my old program (not xara) I could just click on the area/color, it turn pink and then click finish it would erase. Is that possible with this program?

Xara isn't a bitmap (pixel) editor so no, it doesn't do what you are used to.

DP7 does include MEHDI Eraser in the plugin (Live Effects) tools which can remove a selected colour.
But, depending on the complexity of the object you want to 'pop out', the best method is to use the shape editor and intersect the object from the background.

This is not a criticism of the OP but this exact question gets asked on a weekly basis and is, I hasten to add, always answered very politely.

But I wonder whether a definitive answer (covering Mehdi Eraser and cutting out with a vector shape), should be stickied, added to a FAQ, better covered in the Xara help file, or all 3?

It already is, you just have to use the forum (or other) Search function, most people don't. But everything is available (pretty much) when you search.

That video was made in 2006 by Egg Bramhill, not by me
I believe he uses Camtasia Studio
