    I happened upon an effect.
    This may be common Xara knowledge, but I found
    it by accident.
    Using a jpg image you can click on a color and the image changes to a colorized version of the image. Just select the image and pick a color from the color line.
    Here are some examples.
    The first is the original image. The next one is by clicking the lightest gray shade. etc.

    Hello Signmark,

    If you right click on the color line you can change the blck to whatever color you want. After making it black & white you can use a transparency to "remove the background".

    And here is a Xara Xone tutorial from July 2003 that uses this technique to create a fantasy landscape.
