Actually, there are a couple of software packages that are great for designing quilts: Electric Quilt and Quilt Pro.

    What I'm planning to do is create signs using Xara X to design the graphics and then affix them to blank vinyl car tags. Laminate it then attach a ribbon to hang it with and Voila' -- signs to be sold to quilters. TaDa!

    I've already used the dash line feature as a stitching/sewing line on one design, its not too bad.

    I am an enthusiastic fabric artist (re: quilt maker). I enjoy the tactial portion of quilt making too much to be a total virtual quilter :-}

    But there's nothing wrong with making signs about it! LOL

    Blessings and Peace.

    ... have a look at my Quilt design titled "Disco Vortex" in the Xara Gallery forum. Let me know if it is stitchable!

    Sounds like a clever business idea, Scout. I think you will find Xara X to be a great tool in your sign making.

    The best way to learn sometimes is to jump right in and play with things. You can't break anything. Then after it starts making a little sense, and you begin to see what the buttons and icons do, then try some of the tutorials and read a chapter or two in the WebXealots.

    The Workbook tutorials are shorter and easier as well.

    Great to have you here.

    Believe me this program has tools and techniques that you won't even realize untill one day you do it and say "Wow, that looks great, how the heck did I do that? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    As you can see, I am no longer a newbie at this program but I am still learning (Salon logo in the XaraGallery) all done but took a while to get it right!!

    Have fun and if you have questions then don't hesitate, lots of folks ready to help!!
