Just wanted to let you know that I'm off and running with my Xara X. I've actually READ the first three pages of The Xealot http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/xealot16/index.htm

Today I messed around with beveling words and shadows and color and I want to show off my first work ever done with graphic software.

Please be gentle, I'm a virgin at this.

Hi Scout,

I like the patchwork pattern you've made. I used your .xar file to apply a clipview to the objects you made and adjusted the size in pixel units to make a file that will load quickly.

Attached is Scout's image.

Scout - it looks great. I can imagine that Xara could be a great way to try out quilting ideas before committing the needle & thread. With a scanner or digital camera, the fills could even be the real fabrics you intend to use! Perhaps Xara brushes could be developed to simulate the stitching patterns... (Carefull - you could become a virtual quilt maker! )

Great start! you're on your way!
Isn't it exciting to start to make things happen.

Soquili, thanks for posting the image, for some reason, when I click attahments, nothing comes up on my computer, and I really wanted to see Scout's first masterpiece.

Looking good, Scout! It gets easier and quicker with each project.

Good idea! A challenge! A Quilt!

Tim - you have to save the file to your computer and then open it with Xara. (If you're using a Windows pc and IE and want to download the file - right click on the file and choose the "save target as..." option. Sometimes you'll have to reinstate the .xar extension before Xara will open it).

Once again, thanks a million, I lost out on Steve's oval challenge and Risto's Christmas challenge because I didn't know and didn't want to look too stupid by asking.

I'll have to try that technique next time. I like being to see it inline without having to open anything.

I haven't yet figured out how to select a specific group and then totally delete everything else.

I bet that's the next lesson in Zealot. LOL

... I'll start quilting...

If someone beats me to the first post - probably better to place it in the Xara Gallery forum.
