Just wondering if any of you have any techinques that work real well for creating broken glass? I was just sitting around playing with Xara attempting to think of some things I could make and this idea popped into my mind and I realized I have no clue on how I could go about doing this! So any suggestions would be great

Steve,
This is a quick attempt to create a broken window pane. I'm sure that there are better ways of making the effect. Hopefully some will be posted.

Here's the XAR file so you can see how the image was constructed.

Panfer,

If you go to the XaraXone Tutorials, Gary Priester's Jan97 tutorial shows how to make clear glass.

Panfer,

I hope Gary's tutorial helped you in creating clear glass.

The window attached below is an example of clear glass. Each pane consists of two rectangles. They start as a single rectangle given a linear fill applied diagonally from upper left to lower right. The colours of the fill are white (upper left) and black (lower right). A flat stained glass transparency was applied. Then clone the rectangle and change the clone's transparency to bleach. A small narrow white rectangle was used for the highlight, it was given an elliptical transparency. The center of this transparency was changed of 0% to 50%.

I look forward to seeing some of your work posted here in the gallery.

Some people have downloaded the XAR file for the quick example of broken glass, so I'll post the XAR file for the clear glass example.

Here you go. Clear glass

Actually because glass is clear, what tells us that there is glass present is the reflections.
