I am trying to take a photograph and split it down the middle as if it had been ripped apart. Can anyone help me with this?

TIA

Jill,
you mean like this ?
http://www.xara-x.com/images/trinity.jpg

That's easy to do.
Have your picture on it's own layer
"Draw" the wedge with the "Polygonal Lasso Tool" (L)
Switch to "Quick Mask" Mode (Q)
Use Filters-Pixelate-Crystallize on it, with a small size (I used "3")
Hit Delete and done you are

The Rest is basically cosmetics. Give it a drop shadow, deform the edge a bit ...

With the same technique, you can as well produce completely torn apart pieces ..

Ok, forget my reply in your other post Jill. I see Wolfy has helped you out here and even included a sample and the 'fraid edge' effect too.

Thanks Wolfgang!

Thanks I really appreciate the information. This saves me hours of "playing" time.
