When you type cd you're not putting the backslash - \ - afterwards. Take it from there ...

    You will then see: C:\>

Then type: cd Program Files (x86)\Xara\Xara_Designer_Pro_6\XaraDLLs and press ENTER

Then type: regsvr32 XarThumb64.dll and press ENTER

Thank You John for the reminder about the '\' backslash (it's just been too long since DOS Prompt) - And, it WORKED!
(now to figure out why WinRAR wants to Open...)

Again, I appreciate the Help! Tom aka Hwy101

And why Avast would be reporting/warning/complaining about that. One should theoretically have nothing to do with the other.

Glad it worked for you Tom But I'd do a full scan in safe mode as a minimum if I were you ... just in case

Thumbs up Re: How to force Xara thumbnails in Windows 7 64bit?

Ben, I agree -something seems to be up -I did note that a lot of File in the System seem to have the WinRAR icon (stack of Books) -I wondered about this -may some things amiss in the Registry!

John, I am going to do a Full Scan - Something is not Kosher here... I know right click was high-jacked by one program trying to get me to buy their product after Trial (that didn't work, just annoyed me to where they lost a later Sale -Spanish Language Course)

Programers now days taking a lot of liberties with our systems that they should not.

Thanks Everyone for all the Help with this! Tom aka Hwy101

If you have Windows extensions enabled you can see what file types have been associated with WinRAR. Unless you specify when you install WinRAR it will associate itself with all compressed package types supported by the app. This will include Windows' .cab files. You will see lots of these all over the system because it's a common data packaging type. There's no danger in leaving .cab files associated with WinRAR

To enable Windows extensions [if they aren't] -
    Open Windows explorer
    press ALT
select "tools>>Folder Options" then the 'View' tab
Scroll down and uncheck 'Hide extentsions for known file types'

John, I have enabled windows extensions -but, what I do not get & do not like is:

    1) why is it trying to launch when I right click to Open a File?
    2) or Launch on Right-Click to do something to a File that is NOT a .CAB file...

Something screwy here, intrusive and down right a nuisance! May cost WinRAR a sale ( I was considering ) !

if all you need winRAR for is to open ZIP, RAR, CAB... files you could use 7-ZIP instead, which is free - it will make ZIP files, but not the others

Thanks Steve J, I wrote them -turns out I had a 32-bit version on 64 bit laptop - Re-Installed, taking care to only check the things I wanted for WinRAR... So Far, all is well -they even point at Avast about False Alarm... (quack) I am monitoring for anymore goofs. LOL Have StuffIt for the Rest... Thanks Everyone! Tom aka Hwy101
