"page and layer gallery" width

When the "page and layer gallery" is in a collapse state I cannot change its width. Most of my pages have fairly long names starting with the same thing. So, I have to scroll to see the name I want. If I try to make the box wide it snaps back to the initially size. A work around is to expand one page, but that makes it wider than neccessary.

a work around the workaround might be to have a 'dummy' empty page with an empty layer in it, so it's minimum length increase
