    Default Headings and SEO

    Hi,

Just used www.woorank.com, it came back saying:

"Your website does not use HTML headings (<H1> to <H6>) or it has far too many HTML headings.

Use your keywords in the headings. Make sure the first level (<H1>) includes your most important keywords.

For greater SEO, only use one <H1> title per page."

When I 'view source' it seems correct, as when I look at a competitor he seems to have his descriptions etc higher in the Headings

    Me: www.defiancecombatselfdefense.com
    Other: www.h2hselfdefence.co.uk

    Any thoughts?

This link http://board.xara-users.info/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=394 will show how to add H1 headings if you really want them, but you don't need them. The same link has a video from Google [and they should know] about whether Headings are relevant anymore. You could also check with a more up-to-date SEO company.

Xara doesn't really support Hx tags and doesn't use them. It is a contentious point about the value of Hx tags, SEO specialists often see them as being important, but Xara does not, otherwise they would have done something about it.

So, the report is right - no Hx tags, but whether that's important is another matter, debated often on TG. It is possible to introduce Hx tags with code snippets, but it's a complete kludge.

    Hi there,

That's really helpful as it can stop me wasting time on stuff.
Really appreciate that both of you.

PS: I don't know what a 'Kludge' is, but I want one and will now say it for the rest of my life! :-)
