Automatic reopening of unwanted XDP6 files.

In Designer Pro 6 Under Options, Backups, there's a check box that says, "Backup open documents on program close and restore on program start." Sometimes I want some of my open documents to reopen on program start (I think this is great!) But my problem is even when I first close those documents (that I don't want to open on program restart) before closing XDP6, when I reopen XDP6 the ones that I closed reopen. What can be done to change this behavior if I want to keep the box checked?

how do you close the files because it may have something to do with which way you choose, there being three options: file>close, ctrl+w, x [on window top right]

I have it switched off - but it seemed to work ok when I tried it just now
