Names function ?

Hi friends !
One thing bothers me for a months ...
What is the really function of giving names to the objects ?
Why should I give some name to the pop-up photos, or some groups, softgroups ?
Once I thing, somebody wrote here that if we give name to the photos (objects), it will be shown on export, in index_htm_files folder, instead of dummy titles 1.jpg, 2.jpg ...
Is it true ?

Can someone explain it ?
