From a purely a web design point of view, which is better WD7 or XDP6?
What are the key differences, if any?

Web Designer 7 Premium has more advanced features than XDP6, and it has many more drawing and transparency options than WD6.

If your primary interest is web design, then Web Designer 7 is the right choice. If you want the best set of all around tools for drawing, publishing, and web design, then Designer Pro 6 is better.
