    Default Is this possible

    hi

Please see attached picture, is it possible to trim the parts of the curve that go beyond the shape? In a CAD programme you can just trim these away and join whats left to form your shape.

By the way i am trying out the trial of Autodesk sketch book designer, (not to be confused with sketchbook pro). it has vector graphics in it and has some neat ideas xara could benefit from. Check out the video, i like the direct transformable fills. also the way lines are handled. It is way too expensive though.

Yes it's possible. You select the line, use the Shape Editor tool and add a node where the lines cross then select Break At Points from the menu bar. Deselect the line then click on the segment you want to delete (which selects the segment) and hit the Delete key.

    Hi Futureproof,

Use the Selector Tool to marquee select all four lines.

Arrange Menu > Combine Shapes > Add Shapes.

    Arrange Menu > Break Shapes.

Click and drag the selected shape away and you will find a filled version of the area within the lines without the extra line segments.

The topmost shape (the one you drag away) will have the extended line segments but you can delete it if you wish.

Thankyou, sometimes it is simpler than you think.

Is there a shortcut for breakshapes?

edit: I have made a custom shortcut for it.

There is not a shortcut assigned as the program comes from Xara; however, you can assign your own shortcut if you have the Pro version of Xtreme/Designer.

In the Utilities menu > Customize key shortcuts

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
