I like it!
When I came here and saw it, I was like "Hey, that's a cool new skin". Sure, it's not the one I voted for (I think; it was a long time ago; I voted on 9, thanks for the link handrawn), but it's definitely one of the better ones that were on display.
The original default colors were just nasty in my opinion. It was something like ugly blueish....stuff. I prefer these colors, although the font colors are still the same I believe. But I've got used to it.
The only thing that bothers me a little is the big empty space next to the logo. From a design point of view, it looks awkward.

Anyway, I came here to see all you people hating on the logo/skin and this:

was exactly my reaction. We all took a vote on the logo AND on the forum skin. It was no big secret as it was announced all over the forum. I didn't see anyone criticise the skin or logo(s) back then. It's like seeing a little child who constantly nags to get a treat from his parents and once he gets it, he's like "Nah, I don't want it. It's stupid"
The skin was chosen by a majority of voters. Deal with it
The logo was chosen by Xara if I remember correctly. It fits the current color scheme in my opinion.

Remember how much criticism there was when we switched to the new (the now old) skin? Apparently we don't hate that skin anymore. How strange....
Now I see people wanting to switch back to that skin which was an abomination in our eyes when we first saw it. Oh the IRONY!
Give this a chance guys, it will grow on you just like the default vB skin.

I've seen this thread where many members entered their designs.

I've also seen the thread where it shows the votes.

But, surely, there must have been a place where all the entries were shown (in one place) and people could vote for the design they liked?

If you mean the logo Rik - the choice there was entirely in the hands of Xara Ltd, it was a competition with a prize, and Xara were the sole judge AFAIK

it seems the logo's might have been shortlisted by moderators.. if so that was before my time [as mod]

The winning logo wasn't my favourite, but I did like the idea, though the colour did change (clearly to try and have some coherence with the skin). The skin vote was for a pretty garish colour scheme, but I guess it was the popular vote so we'll have to live with it (until we flip the scheme back to the default).

There are two messages, I guess:

Colour sensibility isn't a requirement for using Xara software.
Xara are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Good on Xara for doing the polls. In the scale of things going on in the world right now, it's not a big deal.
