Backwards Compatibility

Hi All,
Apologies for lame question but this is it:

The school in which I work has been using the Xara Extreme version 3.2 for a number of years and the students have created work using this on a Windows XP platform.

Just recently we have moved to a Windows 7 platform and found that our version is not compatible so we have the option to upgrade to the Xara Photo & Graphic Designer.

The question is, will the students previously created files work in the upgraded version namely Xara Photo & Graphic Designer?

Hi Adrian,

Yes. Newer versions of the program will always load files from older versions.

The font handling system was changed in version 4 or 5. In previous versions one could apply Bold or Italic to any font, this is now no longer possible. Documents from older versions will still load, but Bold and Italic attributes will be dropped.
