    Default svg support?

IE9 and FF 4+ will both be having full .svg support. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to import/export projects in Web Designer or V6?

I'd like to be able to use inkscape or adobe illustrator in conjunction with xara...

remember to have the page area large enough to include everything you need to export/save to pdf - objects outside the page area tend to be missed out of the pdf

Internet Explorer 9 has "initial" support for The W3C SVG 1.1 Second Edition (22 JUN 2010) specification.

Due to some unclear areas of the W3C specification there will inevitably be some difference in how various browsers will process any of the unclear situations.

Please read more details in the W3C Editor's Draft: http://dev.w3.org/SVG/profiles/1.1F2/publish/

You can read more about how IE9 will work with SVG: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2...9-roadmap.aspx

Xara Designer Pro 6, Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 6, and Xara Web Designer 6 can export to SVG but they currently do not import SVG.

As already mentioned the PDF format is best for importing into either of the Xara applications.

also, if you are thinking of using xara's svg export - in my experience it works well for flat colour and simple enhancements such as linear graduated fill and linear transparency - but it is unlikely to give good results with feathering and the like

Looking at Designer Pro exported SVG file it indicates it conforms to the SVG DTD (Document Type Definition) 1.1 which would be the first release as updated in 2002.

Anytime you plan to open an exported vector file type it is recommended to avoid using any Xara specific effects such as feathering as Steve has mentioned.

Because of the changes made to the SVG specification you will often find differences in how any application will represent a vector created by another application. Limiting your work to generic shapes, fills, and transparencies is recommended.

I always Select the shapes I want to export. This is more a personal preference than a requirement if you are exporting the entire page.

    1. Click the File menu and select Export.
    2. Select SVG from the file type.
    3. Type in a filename and then click the Export button.
    4. Select the rasterization resolution and the Bitmap Fills method to use then click the OK button.
