What's the largest movie file size that is playable with WebDesigner

I have someone that would like me to host a 500+ mb movie for streaming on the website and I have made the website with Xara Web Designer.

We were hoping to stream the movie via http.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Xara's movie player does not stream. True streaming (like YouTube) requries a Streaming Server. HTTP cannot do true streaming (it can do progressive download, but that's not the same thing)

Best to host the movie file on a streaming server like YouTube or Vimeo etc, then embed the code into the Xara page via a placeholder

Roy, you'll also need to consider the kind of hosting plan you need to serve files of such a size - bandwidth will become a real issue, as well as the provision of a streaming server.

I'm not sure that youtube or vimeo would take such large video files, though I haven't looked into it.

I think YouTube has a maximum file size adn I think the file I have is much larger. The original file I was looking at was corrupted.

I doubt if many people will access this file anyway.
