Nice clean and well designed websites.

Your dashboard image is huge however. 500K, 1/2 MB.

I imagine you used a minimal amount of compression so the type would read OK.

I exported the image as a 256-color PNG with error diffusion and the file size is 146 K. Still large but more manageable.

Yes thats right. The image can be shrunk loads by saving as a Jpeg but the issue is the text.

I need crisp text. I cannot overlay it with normal text as the image is [controled by some java fader code.

Is there a better way to have the text very crisp?

If that java fader code allows it, what about exporting the image as jpeg, and only the text as PNG32 (which will be both crisp and small)? If it can overlay images?

The Java allows only one file to be displayed at a time.

However I saved the file as a 256 colour PNG and its looks just the same.

I will still look around for a solution to the text but at least the first image loads quick now

I'd just like to point out that Javascript is not the same as Java and your site is using Javascript and no Java!

What I have done is to enhance the text a little. I took my 256 colour PNG and with my paint prog filled in the text with the tolerance around 40%.

It looks a tiny bit more blocky but is brighter. Not uploaded it yet though..
