I am a glassblower, (probably the only one on this forum) and i am trying to find a way to extrude a hollow tube that would look like glass tubing, is it possible?
I am quite new to Xara, so please be patient with what is maybe a boring question.

Welcome to TalkGraphics
I think your best bet would be to create a ring shape and then create a brush.
This is fairly complex and would require a more in depth tutorial but it should give you some place to start.

Thank you for your reply,
I am sure it is something difficult to do.
Maybe, you could point me into how to extrude first a hollow cylinder then i will try to work out some transparency effect on it (if it is possible)
I though that one could make an outline of the shape of the glass vase I want to blow then extrude it or rotate the outline around until it would form a wall like effect.
I watched a video on one of the help from Xara, but it was not transparent.
Is it something conceivable?
Hi Teissedre,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
In Gary's Xara Xone workbook #45 he shows how to create a glass tube brush. http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/workbook45/page_6.htm

Than you for taking the time to reply to me.
I rushed to look the tutorial, but I am not sure I understand yet the concept of brush.
I will try it later tonight.
It looks better than what I tried to do, but it is not quite like a glass tube.
I have 2 samples of a small jpg of such a effect, this is that I am trying to imitate.
Please look at the samples.
Considerably more than a simple glass tube.
How do we see glass? Unless it is colored glass it is transparent so we actually see reflections, highlights, and shadows rather than the glass itself.
I'm attaching the .xar file for a drawing I made a few years ago that may help you.
Open the file and examine the shapes their fills and transparency settings.

Thank you Soquili,
It is really beautiful, so actually you don't make an object but only faint highlights and transparencies to suggest glass. I was in the wrong track thinking that I could use the extrude tool for that purpose.
When I said a tube, I wanted to begin with a tube and elaborate as I progress.
I have the feeling it is going to take some time....http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/s...smiley-sad.png
I have been using Corel Draw for years, but I am extremely impressed with Xara for making extrusions and it's speed.
Here's a method using the extrude tool for a simple glass tube. You will have to experiment for more complicated shapes. Apologies for the rough drawing - it was done for the sake of speed rather than quality.
.xar file included.
Saludos,
Bob.

Hello Teissedre and bienvenue to Talkgraphics,
I don't think you're going to find Xara up to the job of creating the kind of graphics you have pointed us at. I think you'd be better off with a dedicated 3D app (which is, I'm sure, what was used to create the images you uploaded). I would try Caligari trueSpace, mainly because it's free (it's been discontinued but still has an active following). You can download it here.

Good morning iamtheblues,
Thank you for taking the trouble to create a drawing for me. It gives me ideas on how to go around my problem.
I find that the members have been very generous with their time to help,
Thanks again
Muchos gracias...
G.
