Its a decorative, large flouncy variety that we have a patch of in our garden. What the difference between that and opium poppies is I have no idea. These usually flower the day before it rains quite heavily, which means the next day they are all lying down in a soggy heap. Probably not the biggest problem in areas where they harvest opium poppies.
I should have said this is an old drawing that I came across recently, I don't seem to have had the time to sit and do much of late.
