Eric,

after your, a little hotheaded, post above, I really was hurt and disappointed.

But one needs a bit of character to accept that he was wrong and to excuse himself for it, so I guess, we're even now.
You get half a point for your pretty good translation which lets you slide a bit into the cool-zone again.

Wolfgang

P.S.: Would you take a .net or .org if the same in .com were available ??

Wolfgang,

Don't be disheartened, but do offer a partnership with whomever may decide to take up the offer. An old saying comes to mind, the bloke wjo works for nothing will never be short of work.

As for the rest of you miserable buggers; whats wrong with you?

Why not have a second site devoted to Xara X? What can be the harm and a differing site may suit others just coming into the XARA fold. The Xone is great, really great, but it is more or less an e-zine, and this forum, while equally as great, is too broad to be a true fan site for anything.

Jings crivens oh no!! another site to put on my favourites list!!!

A site with a structured information list on specific topics which can be updated regularly, and a topic message board instead of a long list of osts to trawl through sounds good to me and can only enhance 'all' of our XARA X experiences.

Stop being so small minded, and Wofgang, stop trying to be a control freak. A happy medium between this would be ideal.

There you go, my tuppence worth, LOL

Love and kisses to all
Stewart

Just my words Stewart!

I don't see evil in 'another' site and I would like very much to have a place with all the collected tips myself (sic!)

Regarding open minded and work for nothing:

I do have my reasons for my 'important points':

First, I have seen really good sites lose greatly in quality by going commercial. From enthusiastic and innovative designer to CD-selling Guru can be a short way. I wanted to create the site for the love of it. That's why I was asking for 'no commercial interest'.
Fortunately I can make a decent living with my day job and I don't need a second income. Of course I DO know that my point of view is not the only one and I DO understand people trying to get some bucks out of it. Just not with this one ...
I personally hate banners and popups (who doesn't ??), so I don't want to have any on 'my' site, even if it's operated by somebody else.

Second, I need to have a *bit* of control. The domain is (and stays) registered to my name. The webspace is in my name as well (and paid by me). If things go out of hand on the site, I must be able to react.
Once again, under normal conditions I would never interfere with the one who keeps the site running.

Most of the above was said before, still there is no applicant. Come summer, my workload may go down a bit, let's see what I can do then ...

I'd love to take over this Xara site for you, and as the proprieter of a fledgling Web Design company I'd love to combine my love of Web Site Design and XaraX, but I'm not sure if 've got the time to properly nurcher (spelling?) the site.

I'll give it a bit more thought though, and I'll get back to you.

Michael Ward

If anybody wishes to take a look then these are two sites I have designed - although I have a great depth of designs in my portfolio... only I've not had the chance to show them yet...

I agree with you all the way, new site has to be opened for Xara users, where each site has it style of providing users with a different information and tutorials, i wish i can find the time to help you to achieve your goal, but when i find time in the near future, i will be glad to offer any help.

I have now offered my help to Wolfgang, and am willing to develop the site for him.

If my offer is accepted then I would be very grateful to anybody who would offer their help - any help will be most graciously accepted.

The help you provide will not be compulsorary, nor will it bear any obligation to you, and you can take as little or as much time as you like on the work you submit.

I plan to create something that is unique in the Xara community, and I wish to avoid any conflict of interest with either XaraXone or TalkGraphics.
I will not talk any more of my plans until I have discussed this with Wolfgang, however if anyone wishes to volunteer their services then I'd like to hear (in the forum or at my e-mail),

Thanks in advance,

Michael Ward

I agree 150% with Stewart here folks.

I mean SERIOUSLY! Come on!?
I've been running a successful (NOT $ success either! I do it for the love of the program) Photoshop site for over 4yrs now, even though there are hundreds of them out there to be seen and visited. And with a LOT more traffic than i currently get. (although 99% of them are trying to make a buck from their sites)

I've come to realize that each individual site has a wealth of valuable services/info to provide the users of Photoshop. Each site with it's own message board has a completely different set of users, most of which do not frequent the boards of other sites. AND THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF IT!

I myself have 3-4 specific PS sites that i frequent, just to see "what's going on" around the world with PS users. I get totally refreshing views about the use of PS from each individual board/site.
And so what if i have to create yet 'another' bookmark to a site i like. That's what a "Favorites" list is for!

So i can see NO harm what-so-ever from this scenario taking place. Why should this forum/site have a monopoly on providing Xara info to users of the program? That's very limited thinking.

PS: I waited quite a while to chime in on this topic. Didn't see it going anywhere for the first 2 weeks it was posted.
PPS: I'd love to help you Wolfgang, but my PS site and my work won't allow it at this time.

Anywho... my tuppence worth.

Take care,
Mark...

Well, it looks as if I will be taking over Xara-X.com sometime in the near future, and I am currently in talks with Wolfgang, and i aim to provide a unique service to the Xara fans.

The important thing is that I give you what you want... so I will start a new thread called "New Site Suggestions" and I would like people to post suggestions about what they'd like to see on this new site.

I can't promise to include everything suggested, but I will try my best to meet the needs of the users.

Thanks in advance,

Michael Ward

Thanks you for your comment Mark, and of course I totally agree with you.

Michael beat my by minutes and yes, it looks like he will be the one to provide us with the upcoming xara-x.com

We are still communicating, but I have a very good feeling about it.

Let me ask you all to support Michael with constructive suggestions for the new site. It'll be for the best of the project.

Cheers Mike !

Never thought of myself as 'narrow-minded', so just have to hope Oftel gets its way with British Telecom so my ISP can go freephone soon!

All the best
Peter
