Default Failed to handle record 1989 4125

Sorry, my english is not so good - but I will try

....just tried to open my latest work that I´ve done within the last 3 days. But I´m not able to open this file because of the error message: Failed to handle record 1989 4125

What can I do to get it open? The thumbnail in the XARA folder does show the file. I have XARA Extr. 4 and I use Windows 7.

    Please help!

    many thanks in advance

    best regards

    Martin

    Hi

    how big is the file?

are you willing to post it up here for someone to examine - if not you may be best contacting Xara Ltd directly [but they will on holiday until next week]

    hi

7MB is ok to attach here - and at least at that size it is not an empty file

Uff - I cannot find the attachment button here - so I´ve quickly uploaded it here to Megaupload

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R5LM57XR

by the way, I remember that I´ve pressed a wrong icon yesterday - it was the setup for Xara 3D. I already have installed this programm so I´ve canceled the setup while the setup proceed. Can this might cause my problem with Xtreme? I also checked some other XARA files - and they won´t open, too.

    Hi

the file opend in xtreme 5 - but some of the live effects have been removed and fonts substituted - I've attached it so you can try to open it - if you cant you may have an installation problem

[you may get a message saying this file was created in a more recent version]

    Hello Steve J,

many thanks for your help - the file has opened now. Very curious! I do not understand what happens. What have you done to repair that file?

    regards

    Marty

I didn't do anything other than try it in other versions...

a possible cause is a live effect error - if that live effect was not installed on my computer then the file would have loaded and resaved without it and then it may have reset itself when you opened it - but only Xara Ltd would be able to say for sure

do you want me to delete the remade file from my post?

    Hi Steve,

no, it´s O.K. you don´t need to delete it. I´m thinking about this live effect. Well I use Page Curl 2.2 as add on. I also remember that this happens some times before when using Page Curl.....

anyway - I wish you a happy new year and again, many thanks!
