    Hello,

I had created a general meta-tag for my homepage.
Where do i have to put it, on all pages or only on the index-page?

As I understand it, from a search engine perspective, if the tags are used, they must reflect the content of the page - the H1 at the top and then the first few lines.

So, as a first stab, your tag can go on all pages, but you really need to customise the tags for each page.

What I *try* to do is write a good first paragraph, incorporating the page title and H1 text. Then I put that para in the Description meta tag, and then distill the key words out and put them in the keywords tag. (I use a couple of macros in the TextPad editor to turn the text into a list of words, remove the duplicates and sort them. I do a manual edit, and then run a second macro to rebuild the string. And paste the string back!)

I know there are better practices but it is a balance between effort and reward, and my approach seems to do *quite* well.

    Hope that helps.

I think you put the meta tags on all your pages, or at least I do.
