Default sublte lighter area in the header

Early this am i tried to do this type of subltle lighter header at one point then saw the new posting today in web gallery -http://theroyalplumbing.com/ which is exactly what i was trying to achieve .. i am sure its simple but

1- i have tried to use fill tool linear fill selected another point then using a tint of another colour to change the point slighly to a lighter shade but it looks too rough and a block of lighter area rather than a 'hint fading circular fill'.
2 Also tried a transparency and failed plus other methods -fail

how do you create it ...teach a man to fish etc

Hmm? Teach a man to fish. OK. Get a pole, longer is better. But not too long. Add some string and a hook....

Try a Circular fill. Stretch the fill to the edge of the rectangle. And if you like the colors, drag the header off the web page and onto the desktop then drag the image into Xara and sample the colors with the color picker (the eye dropper tool) in the Color Editor.
