Default PSPX2 - Text Tool and Reducing the Anti Aliasing Effect

I've always had trouble with the text tool in PSP. It always seems to produce text that looks low quality next to the same text produced by PhotoShop.

The problem I'm having at the moment is that I need to put some text onto a button with an orange background. I am using the font Abadi MT Condensed, in white at 26 px onto a graded orange background. Because the font is quite small, the white is being anti aliased to a light orange. The same button produced in PhotoShop is 100% with anti aliasing around the outside.

(I don't really know how to use PS by the way :-)

I have played with the stroke, using foreground and background colours, but nothing produces the effect I'm after.

Any tips for this would gratefully received.

Well, I would suggest you do the annotation job in MS Paint (native image editor for Windows). Its Font Rendering is far superior (for smaller font sizes) than any other software.

Once done, copy the rastered text back to PaintShop and use the layer's Blend Mode setting to make it transparent. You'll need "Multiply" for Black Text on White Background and/or "Screen" for White Text on Black Background.

That's the way I do it, so I thought I should contribute...
