    Default A background problem that has me stumped!

    Hi Folks, This is either going to be simple, hard or impossible to answer but it has beat me. Having come up through webstyle to designer pro 6 I have had a continuing problem with website backgrounds and I have searched the Forum, tried the tweakset but still have not found an answer. Colours, tiles etc fine but the design below has me beaten!
    If you look at the attached rough drawing you will see what I am after, it’s a background that flows through the middle of a webpage, not many tiled squares, not one tile stuck at the top but a background that can be placed and where it will expand width wise to fill small or large screens. Obviously the webpage is semi transparent to show the design and will have content on the page over the background.

    The closest website that I have been able find to explain what I mean is
    http://www.theconquerors.ie/ where the purple ribbon flows across page.

    Can this be done in Designer Pro 6? How? Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks for reading this, I hope you can advise.
    Mike

    Mike - I think you could do this with a bit of effort.

    If your page background has a white background is a bitmap that tiles, in other words the pattern on the right aligns seamlessly with the pattern on the left, the page will continue and tile across the entire screen area. Then You would make a copy of the red lines pattern but add a rectangle with a blue background. This is a bit labor intensive but would work.

    You could also create a background tiling image and use on of John Horn's Tweaks to keep the background image static and then add the same image but with a different background color to the page.

    Play with it and be creative. You can't break anything.

    Hi Drwyd

    Very very close to what I want - where does the page get the background image from,
    i.e. where does the cheekybean come from that extends beyond the page ?
    When I export the website I can see it as 0.jpg in the index files folder but where is in the Designer program, how do you get it into the background in the program?

    Your placeholder show below, but is this not just a colour its not an image?
    <style type="text/css">
    body {background-repeat:repeat-x; background-color:#FFFFFF;}
    </style>
    Thanks, Mike

    Hi Mickymac

    Sorry for the confusion, that was an example cannibalised from another toot.

    Attached is a mini toot that should (hopefully) make sense.
