Default Corel Painter 11 and Windows 7 - installation problem

I very recently purchased a new computer, complete with Windows 7. Now, when I try to install Corel Painter 11, the autorun fails to work. It shows a bit of the installation screen - a small fragment of the Corel logo - but the rest of the installation screen is see-through. No buttons to push or anything, nothing to do at all.

I haven't been able to find much info about what's wrong, and I'm kind of worried that it might be a compatibility problem. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix?

Checking the Corel site the system requirements for Painter 11 is Windows XP.

You may need to run the installer in Compatibility mode rather than allowing the AutoRun feature to start the installation.

Use Windows Explorer to view the CD/DVD contents, right click on the installer file and select Properties from the popup menu.

Select the Compatibility tab and then put a check mark in the check box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:

I found the issue isn't really a compatibility problem, it's an aero problem. Three possible fixes:

    • Disable desktop composition in the aero visual effects.
    • Check the disable desktop composition in the compatibility tab.
    • Bypass the autorun and just run setup.exe from the CD.

All of these worked for me, I was having the same issue.
