Default Rectangle draws the same way as Quickshape Tool

Hi, I have a problem with the rectangle tool, when I draw a rectangle it drags in a similar way to the Quickshape tool. I am sure that originally it operated in the normal click and drag manner, I must have inadvertently pressed some key combinations that have changed the nature of the tool.

I have looked through all the options etc and the manual but cannot find how to reset this tool. I also searched the forum.

I have included a screen-shot of the problem (the cross hairs and rectangle icon were added later to show what I see on the screen).

Can someone tell me how to reset this tool please as is driving me mad having to use Ctrl and resize dragging to produce rectangles.

Should have added: XDP 6.1.2.13287 Jul 2010, CD Version, Windows 7

    Many thanks

    Martin

Wrong selection if you don't want to finger hop. Select the Diagonal Bounds Creation instead of the Centre that you have at the moment.

It's not possible to see from your screen capture, but possibly the aspect ratio button has been toggled by mistake.

    Thank you for swift response,

I apologise if my explanation is not clear. I have XDP6 installed on both my deskktop and laptop computers.

The rectangle tool works perfectly on the laptop machine, i.e I can simply select the tool and then left click drag to any size, see first image below (what I would expect to happen).

I would expect to get a behaviour similar to the first image below (rectangle problem02.jpg) rather than the behaviour like that in the second image which works in a similar way as if I had selected the Quickshape Tool (Shift+F2).

However, when I select the rectangle tool on the desktop machine I get a square that rotates and changes size as I move the left clicked mouse!!!

    Regards

    Martin

    Hi,
I have the same issue also and I believe it is the way you drag the mouse I can't explain but I find if you drag the mouse a certain direction that is not in reference to the direction of the method you get the 'rotated' rectangle. (hope that makes sense).

    Hi Jim,

I tried pulling in all directions with different rates, but all I get is still a rotated square see attached diagram. This issue is driving me nuts all I want is a simple rectangle!!!

Unless you have your rectangle tool set to BOUNDS CREATION rather than diameter or radius it will be free to rotate.

Peter and Derek provided the correct answer to your question.

You currently have Radius Creation selected. The normal (default) is Bounds Creation.
