Default High Quality Large Format Printer

    -------------------------------------------
Firstly, my apologies for posting this subject to this Forum but I could not find a Forum on TalkGraphics that deals with Hardware. I would be grateful if a Moderator would kindly move this post to the appropriate Forum.
    -------------------------------------------

Secondly, and this is the most important point...... PRICE IS NOT IMPORTANT

I have a client, who has asked me to source a top-of-the-range of the highest quality, inkjet printer that can print in full color from size A5 to size A0. ( max size is approx 120cm x 85cm ).

I have never heard of such a printer and have no idea if a machine such as this even exists.

There used to be a company in Germany called Tektronix who used to manufacture inkjet printers that cost more than a luxury car. They sold the printer side of their business to Xerox, who seem to have discontinued these very expensive products because they are not featured on the Xerox website.

If anyone knows of such a printer I would be really grateful to receive the info.

The HP DesignJet 450c is a large format inkject printer. It supports up to A0 size paper.

The 450c has been discontinued but the 400 series is still available.

    Hello,

Below are two links for wide format printers that are available in the United Kingdom.

    Canon - http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Work/Prod...Art/index.aspx

    Epson - http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-...s/Large-Format

As you will see from these web sites, Canon will go up to 60" and Epson goes up to 64".

Once you have chosen your ideal printer, then you can source these in your own country. I have seen both Canon and Epson both in use and are very good.

I see that Soquili has beaten me to it but cannot vouch for HP wide format printers.

Thumbs up Re: High Quality Large Format Printer

Thanks all for the excellent info and the links. Exactly what I was looking for..... much better than Google

I will go through the specs and determine which of these most closely fits my client's requirements.

    Thanks again

Try Roland, I have a supplier that owns one such model - (VersaCAMM SP-540i), I have seen it in action, cuts labels, prints banners etc. and is very robust and sturdy. What you do have to be aware of however, is what you want the machine to do, that will be an important question before they just hop in and buy one, there is some home work to be done there. eg. the stock you will/want to print on. The other fact to consider is that most of these printers will use material that comes on a "roll", so when they say from A5 to A0 is a matter of where it will print on the roll, the economics of the job will depend on what size rolls you will use to do the most common jobs required if you get my meaning, anyway here is the url below, all the best with your quest

Thanks coza for the link to Roland..... now that's what I call a printer!!!

    For information: -

My client will be printing at a very low volume, very high quality. Some items (in fact many items) could be only a single print. But the quality has to be without compromise. Cost of printing is not really a consideration because the cost of the printing of the actual physical item - irrespective of how much it actually is - will be very small when expressed as a percentage of the final price to the purchaser of the item.

I will be assisting my client with technical aspects, but my expertise lies in the field of computing and graphic arts, not in the field of printing. So one of the requirements is that the "printer-machine" does not need a fully qualified and experienced "printer-person" to get the desired result.

The challenge for me is to determine which machine will tick all the boxes.

    Ash, thanks for the feedback.

On the Roland site there is no mention of your product. If you click on the link below and when the page opens click on "Products" and then "Printers", none of the listed printers are the one you recommend.

    Do you have a link?
