    Default Imaginary Flying Wing Aircraft

It's been a while but I usually don't do much if any graphics during the summer months. I'm glad to see all the members at T.G. here have been busy creating all that wonderful looking graphic work. This is an illustration I started in the spring. It shows what two aircraft types may have looked like if ever they were built. Time period is around 1949. The main subjects in this "what if" scenario are based on designs by Northrop and Lippisch. Original drawings for the aircraft in vector. The landscape background is a mix of vector and raster digital painting.

    Wonderful work Gray!

From the thread title I expected to see something totally unknown to me, but your aircraft seemed familiar. After reading your posted text, it was explained; I had seen some preliminary drawings of proposed but never built aircraft at the U.S. Air Force museum. Your work is completely unique but quite true to the concept art from that time period.

I've said this before, but it was always the picture on the box lid that sold aircraft kits to me when I was younger. I would have loved to see your images displayed in that way.

Thanks, Bill. There were some interesting designs from the 40's and 50's that never saw production.

Derek, thanks so much. I know exactly what you mean about the box tops. I used to love those illutrations on the model kits.

Thanks Merv for the very kind words.
