Default Any way to animate the popup layer?

I have seen some stuff on websites that look pretty cool like when you click on a text area a layer slides in.
Is there anyway to do this with Xara? Or should I give up on the dream ?

You can fade popups but there's no support for moving them. It would be great if you could. Best bet to achieve it would be to use placeholders and jquery.

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

You can have animation on a pop up layer or a mouse over layer. On my illustration page, mouse over the last image, the one that reads FLASH ANIMATION http://www.gwpriester.com/vector-Illustration.html. The Flash was linked to on a pop up layer.

I am fairly confident you could accomplish the same thing with a button.

I did some experimentation. First of all their is a bug in Xara's SWF export, and a limitation to be addressed.

I created a Flash animation for a mouse over button. But the button exports with the page background even though I opted to export the drawing only. This is a known bug.

And you cannot make the page small enough for one button. There is a minimum page size and a normal button is smaller than that size.

So, here is the work around.

    1. Make the New Animations page size 300% the size of your button. For example for a 20 x 110 button make your page size 60 x 330px.
    2. Scale your mouse over button to the new page size.
    3. Create your Flash animation and export it.
    4. Create a new MouseOver layer. Copy the button and paste in place on the MouseOver layer. Use the Placeholder > Replace with Flash option.
    5. Replace with your SWF file.

You will need to link the attached SWF file.

    Hi Gary,
    Thanks for that.
I was trying to avoid flash as it doesn't work on the iPad.
I found that you can do it with Dreamweaver.
But for now, I will just live without it.
    Would have been nice.
