It has nothing to do with the Xara software.

It's to do with the fact that the post is, basically, pointless. Surely you'd say why you were here... or start posting on a topic that interests you, if that's why you joined. It smells of when spammers start off with innocent posts, so when the spam comes it looks more legit.

A search for the username reveals that in the last few days accounts with this name have cropped up on all manner of forums... and they all start with a "hi, I'm new here" type message with nothing else.

Steve discovered this some time ago with a similar post. The person establishes a beachhead as it were, and then does not post anything for a while so the admins forget about him. Then when all is quiet he starts some heavy duty spamming.

You know that Bob. You're just being argumentative!

If I said I wasn't being argumentative, Gary...well, you know Python as well as I do. To be honest, I thought the OP innocuous enough.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Why are you replying to a thread that is three months old and was started by a spammer?

    It does look suspicious, Antony.

Just like alexleonardme, who started this thread, flashfango listed ‘none’ under Xara software, and he’s been opening quite a few ancient threads this last week, without explaining why, when prompted or asked.

His/her posts don't seem random enough to be a bot though.
