Are there any plans to include scanning capabilities to Xara? The software I currently use to scan with is awful. The company I work for will buy me either Paint Shop Pro and Xara. I'd rather have Xara, but since I can't get both, I really need for the software I get to have a scanning option. Am I to be disappointed?

I don't believe Xara wants to be the type of software that does everything for everyone. You can see where it got Corel and personally I'd like to see them stay as is, lean & mean.

Its really a bit late for that now, Dennis

Besides, since Xara is a graphics program very much oriented towards web graphic production, getting images into the software is paramount.

And I hardly think the rather useable feature of being able to directly scan images without having to use a seperate application is worthy of the term "bloatware". I'm surprised it still lacks this feature...

Surely most people use the scanner driver that comes with the scanner; my elderly one has a fair range of options for varying resolution, descreening, changing the colour balance etc.

I don't really understand the problem?

Surely your scanner must come with it't own scanning software to scan in images? If it is a Twain scanner then MS Imaging (supplied with Windows) will sort that out as you can scan with the Twain drivers in that and import the image into Xara.

As I understood it the scanning software is the problem of the scanner manufacturer not PSP or even XARA. So you may have to get a new scanner or try lookig for it's latest drivers???

It wouldn't hurt too much for Xara to have a TWAIN import facility, would it?

I mean, it would be just the same as imorting a Bitmap from a file or from the Clipboard. I don't see the problem here. It hardly signifies bloatware status, and could be useful. Currently I have to jump across to PSP to do the scanning, and it's a pain in the neck as I'm only running on a P120.

    Just a thought.
