Why would somebody buy a collection of 70 templates for $30 and then use up to 10 or so?

Not the helpful answer I was hoping for. You see, if you are designing websites (notice my use of the plural, s) you already have some skill at building websites. If, on the other hand, you are a complete beginner and you want to build a website using one of the website templates in question, you aren't like ly to choose a 70 unit template pack. It stands to reason (for those of us who employ reason):

    • the templates work out at $0.43 each. As has already been pointed out, that's incredibly cheap, but it immediately raises the spectre "how good can they be if they are being offered at the equivalent of $0.43?". After all, you get what you pay for
    • they are all jumbled together - if I'm looking to create a small website for my local train spotting club, why spend any money at all on a 70 unit template pack when I can get another single template elsewhere for free or for, say, $17, that suits my purpose much better and it's of a higher quality (in my opinion)?

My point is, the marketing of this template pack is all wrong. Chucking 70 templates in a cheap bag is all wrong. A website is about quality, not quantity. Offering 70 average (my opinion) templates will get fewer leads that pan out than offering 5 packs of 3 templates that are visually stunning and just as functional. I'm trying to help here, but there is a dogged refusal to accept any criticism at all, whether it be constructive or not. Your post praises this template pack as follows:

    Everything one may need!
    Splendid!
    Check this out!
I did check it out, as you suggested. I did not find everything any of my students might need. I didn't find this pack to be splendid at all. I don't find it to be value for money (again, in my opinion). The authors' own website is, in the eyes of its visitors, a reflection of their abilities (whether they like it or not) and that too leaves a lot to be desired in the realms of design, commercialism and professionalism. Remember, this is a business venture, and as such you would expect a certain level of professionalism and business acumen.

I haven't hijacked your thread - it is very much on topic, and you can continue to use lowbrow language and attitude in response to my posts if you wish, it's all water off a duck's back to me, but all it will do is underline the lack of an intelligent response to my questions.

This has nothing to do with me not using templates (I have in fact both used and paid for templates before), it has to do with the entire business proposition of the website you have promoted in your opening post. I have given away a whole heap of useful business and design information in this thread for those people not too proud or arrogant to read it. I'd love to see the website improve, develop and make money.

All I'm saying is, I don't think it will, and I have posted quite clearly my reasons for that. So far the person who has come closest to a reasoned argument is Karateed with "I can see that of these 70, I might use up to 10....Why? Because I wanted to and because I had a need. At this time I don't....but I might in the future." Yet, the word might appears twice in that vague statement. Can somebody who has bought this 70-template pack please tell me why they bought it? I would love to know the reason why!

I think that would be a pretty pointless exercise.

A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

Were we to market them that way would you have not still announced to the world that you think that the templates themselves are "amateur"? Somehow I am disinclined to believe that your offer of help is genuine. I might have given you suggestions more consideration had you started in this thread with "you might do better with this" instead of "these are ****".

Choice. Because if I am a person who uses templates and has fun doing it, and sees a possibility of helping out a few of the organizations that I belong to, I might want to have several options for finding something that fit the uses that I foresee. However this is a moot point. You aren't going to purchase the templates so what concern is it of yours why someone else purchases something?

I'll see your quote and raise you one.

You keep trying to convince us to adopt your opinion and it hasn't worked yet, ergo...

My point is that I don't believe that you want to help anyone but rather enjoy slagging people off. I feel that you just enjoy the attention that your attitude in these posts brings you. As I don't want to feed your enjoyment anymore, I am un-subscribing to this post and ignoring it from this point forward. Enjoy the last word.

I also noticed that but since me and Eric have nothing to do with this website beside supplying the template, it is out of our control. Lets tell everyone again that there is no need to edit the html
