    Default html

Hi I would like to place some code in the page. I want to add a guestbook and a counter to a website. Do you have a suggestion on how to do this.

    "Teach a man to fish..."

If you do a search in the help for html, just as you titled your thread here, the first result will be the "placeholder tab" which will tell you a whole lot about this feature in general, which allows you to paste in pretty much whatever code you want.

Also, if you do a forum search here for iframe, you will come up with quite a number of threads telling how to code/use one.

These two things (probably combined) will allow you to do just what you are asking.

Does that lead you in the right direction?

HI I tried all of what you said to do. I put the info in the right place and it still says to highlight the website link. So I then updated Web Designer 6 and tried again. I allowed me to apply and then I tried to view it and it would not do it. So I tried to publish it and it wouldn't allow it so. I had to shut down and restart and the web was ok then. Something seems to be wrong with my place holder. I tried to copy and paste into the page and it came up asking a whole bunch of things I needed to do to paste so wasn't sure on that. I don't understand why when I try to put it in the place holder it doesn't work. Do I need to make a special box for it or something. I am very new at Web Designer and feel absolutely stupid here. Could you please help on this one more time. Thanks and appreciate your quick responses.

I finally managed to paste the one that you sent. I shut down the website and when I brought it back there was a place in the drop down that asked to paste a place holder so I did and walla there it was. Now I just need to know if there is something I need to do on the page itself to make it accept placeholder html. I am going to make a gustbook also and want to be able to do this my self. If you could explain what I need to do to put the placeholder info on the page I would appreciate it. Hope this makes sense.

slavelle - Sometimes you have to give a man a pole before you can teach him to fish.

Steve - I have to post this since I did it before I scrolled down and saw your screen shot.

A guest book is a bit trickier. You may need to set it up on web-based site then add it to a iframe. See Creating Psuedo Frames (Steve's tutorial for creating iframes).

Hi the guest book has code just like the counter. I clicked on the link you sent and it seems a little beyond me. I am dissappointed that I cannot just add code to the page. I can do this in all of my other programs and it seems as though this designer may be just a bit too much for me. I don't understand how the counter works and can't get the code for the guestmap to work. This is the code is something wrong with it.

I'm a little confused as to why you are having difficulties with this, the explanations so far seem very clear and simple.

However, perhaps seeing how I deal with adding a html placeholder from your code may further enlighten you
