    Default Page Elements

Hi Guys I've used XWD5 in the past but for whatever reason I didn't get round to using it much. One thing I can't find an answer to is how do I make sure elements on each page are in the same position from page to page?
If I increase the length of a page and then have to drag elements around how do I make sure they are pixel perfect on the page.
I know they'll be in a different position as the page is now longer, but I hate a page transition where an element moves even a slight bit say; from right to left. Is there anyway I can keep everything the same?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search but couldn't find anything.

I would love to get to grips with this programme as I know its powerful and has been improved in version 6. What's brought me back is the email offering me an upgrade for £25 which is very tempting.

    Hi jinker,

I hope I understand your problem correctly. If your design is centred on the page and you have a short page that doesn't scroll and then a page that is long, the browser (not all, but some) inserts a scrollbar when people look at the longer page, so pushing things to the left a little. It's annoying but I don't think you can do much about it other than
    • making sure all your pages are of a length that forces a scrollbar on each page OR
    • making your design left-aligned

Off the top of my head I don't know of any other solution.

Take the £25 upgrade. It's a wonderful program. Go on, you know it makes sense, lol

Not quite what I was meaning. Sorry my question could have been better.

I know I can duplicate elements from page to page which is a big help. However, if I only want to increase the size of one page how can I make sure the footer bar is at exactly the same position. Or does this have to be done by eye alone?

Another little thing I've either forgot how to do or it isn't possible? (doubtful)
How do I cut/crop to a shape? Star graphic, photo inserted. I don't want all of the photo just the bit in the start. And, whilst I've got your attention
How do I round corners on a photo?

    Cheeky buggar? I know?

    Hi Jinker

Elements can be anchored to text. This can be useful for footers. See attached and delete one or more of the paragraphs.

    Cropping photos to a shape:-

    1. Create shape
    2. Place photo over
    3. Select both and press "Q"

Ctrl click to select photo and move within shape.

Thanks for both the files. However, the crop to shape isn't working for me?
I can see both your graphics on the page and have followed to the letter what needs to be done but nothing happens?
    What am I missing?

I've downloaded the trial of XWD6 and think you must be right as its still not working as desribed. Pressing Q does nothing, but clicking with cntrl does move the photo around inside the graphic.
Is there another way to achieve this apart from buying the design package that is?

Oops, no clip view in WD

    You can use intersect though

Select both objects and press Ctrl+3

    That works....

This is probably why I stopped working with XWD5 as I thought these things were too well hidden. I should have visited the forum more.

    Thanks for your help.
