Anton - Here is a work around.
Create your arrow tail. Then select the Freehand and Brush Tool (keyboard shortcut N) and create a brush.
You can edit the brush to make the arrows larger or small and to increase or decrease the spacing (among other adjustments).

+1 for arrowheads on line segments. Or a way to split the segments into seperate lines.
The workarounds are far from ideal. With a dashed line the dashes follow the curvature of the line. This isn't possible with brushes.
Creating a brush is indeed a workaround which would cover some cases.
I was thinking more along the lines of the attached file (excuse the very clumsy "dash pattern" -- it's supposed to represent a nice orderly Xara-drawn dashed line). As itsfransie said, a brush would not be able to do this with as much agility.
