    Default Is the code clean

I was recently told by a few web designers that the code produced is not clean and efficiently coded. What does that mean?

If you don't know what it means, then you simply shouldn't listen to them.

I think that the problem is that most of these "web designers" don't actually understand that Xara writes code to match the WYSIWYG layout, and can't understand, why it is like it is. They see a bunch of tags that they wouldn't put in if they were coding by hand, and so it's wrong. Xara writes completely W3C compliant code.

Don't get me wrong, Xara is my graphic design bible and I would like it to use it for web design as well. However If I start doing client websites, i don't want them to come back down the road and tell me their site was not coded properly. But as you said I should ignore my web designer friends

    Hi,
I would submit the site you create to a W3C validator and see what that returns, and then show the results to you friends. If nothing else it would start a nice Friendly discussion between them.

It comes down to common sense. Does the site you are creating load quickly and can you find the content quickly?

Web designers can say what they want. But you are designing for a client, not other web designers. If you client is happy with the site you design then you have done well.

If you design a website using Dreamweaver and your code is a tight as can be, and all the web designers applaud you, but your client hates the site...!

If you are working in a copy with other web designers and they are all using Dreamweaver, then you should learn Dreamweaver so that you are all on the same page.

But if you are working on your own, then use the product that works best for you and creates the most impressive website.
