I am running the trial version of Xara X.
When I save a file as an ai/eps format and try to open in either Illustrator of PS 7 I get a parse error:

"can't open ...file because the parser module can't parse the file."

    attached is the file

Any idea of what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks

I think it would be impossible to get that file into Adobe Illustrator.

You will get problems with the bevels and anything done with the contour tool (if not converted to editable shapes) - if you have any clipviews in there, you will get a problem with these also. Same goes with any transparencies you might have.

Sometimes it is a combination of small little things that make it fail.

Micke Engles mentioned Xara EPS into Photoshop - I would love to know if that really works.

What you could do, it to remove all effects and export plain flat shapes and do the rest in Illustrator instead... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

    Hello

This how Photoshop CS deals with a .eps from Xarax.
Notice the transparent pixels at the left and the bottom. The top and right are clipped. I don't know if it is a Xarax thing or a Photoshop thing.

    Hello

Of course the .eps in Photoshop is not in vector, but raster, so you might as well .png
There is one problem with the eps in Photoshop. It is always slightly offset to the right and sometimes to the top.

Illustrator CS has a go, but it depends on the complexity of the file. It makes lots of small tiled slices as objects of your file.

    Hello

Photoshop will not open this file.
Export as Xarax.eps. Photoshop can parse this file.

As far as I can see, it's in the fonts. Try to convert your fonts to outlines and the file should be export-able

Cool! I have never gone this route before - I have always exported a high-res TIFF to abuse in Photoshop before.

    Gotta' give this a try!

    Thanks, Mike! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
