    Unhappy WD6, Forced to only use this apps coding?

    Sorry to seem offensive,
    But bought the program, just because throughout the years have been an xara fan.
    But I love the concept of web d 6 but when the website is done and I look at my actual coding for the website. It's Horrible.

    Seems that I'm forced to only use WD6 to edit the site I'm building.
    I've tried DW, FP, and about 6 other apps to clean up the coding..

    Is WD6 going to be revamping it's coding process ?
    As a an avid web designer and Seo/web specialist I know when something is not ready for optimization..I'm picky on my coding to a point of their search engines.

    I'm getting this instead of usual css coding or REAL Html.
    HTML Code:
    <meta name="XAR Files" content="index_htm_files/xr_files.txt"/>
    and   <span class="xr_tl" style="top: 17px;">beautiful ones too.</span>
      <span class="xr_tl" style="top: 46px;">We have some pictures of the ones we seen there and hopefully these turn out for everyone.</span>
      <span class="xr_tl" style="top: 61px;">Cheers.</span>
     </span>
    Span, span, span,
    All the time make the coding ugly.

    please tell me they are working on this.
    I dont See <p> or <br> or anything.
    Thanks

    Welcome to TG Forums

    One thing you might read on the forums which is mentioned frequently is that Xara Web Designer, Xtreme 5 and Designer Pro are not HTML editors.
    This is stressed often because comparisons with HTML editors are often drawn and this is misleading.
    Xara software generates HTML, there is no internal HTML during the design process.
    The application cannot import HTML either - not even a site exported by Web Designer itself for example.

    SEO and header tags have been discussed since March 2009 soon after Web Designer 5 was released, you can find these discussions via search.

    In-so-far-as 'real HTML' code goes, I'm not sure why you think the HTML output isn't real?
    It is in fact absolute postioned CSS, (HTML with style ) which is 100% W3c validated code.
    Try it

    You can reduce the use of <span for blocks of text by making use of the special name 'HTMLblockText' -if this name is applied to the text object, the text is exported without placing every line in a separate span element.

    More about the undocumented and advanced features can be found here:

    'Covoxer' (John Horn) is the developer of the Xara HTML export filter and is an active member here at Talkgraphics, I'm sure he'll be only to happy to comment further later today.

    The HTML that the software isn't pretty, it is REAL and you can edit it afterwards, but that's not the workflow that Xara software supports:

    Design->publish HTML->Transfer to server

    It is essentially a one way trip from the design.

    If you wanted a HTML editor and already have dreamweaver, why do you need any more HTML editor applications?

    Why would you buy an application that offers a full functionality 30 day trial?

    If you are an avid web designer, you would be using Xara software for design and prototyping and dreamweaver for production.

    Xaras HTML generation from a design works well for it's intended market - non-web specialists publishing smaller websites. I guess that isn't you.

    xara is unlikely to radically alter the way they publish to HTML since it's required to allow translation of the design by machine.

    I'm really surprised that any of this is a surprise to you because it's all over these forums.
