    Default Importing Fonts

Xara has the ability to install fonts ....

However, if you navigate to a fonts folder you get the message:

"The folder ......... doesn't have a font index"
The only options being ... Cancel (which I don't want) or Help (which doesn't) ....

How can you create a font index so that you can look through these fonts to install them, which the gallery implies that it will do .....

This isn't new behaviour, It's something that has been happening since at least Version 4 and probably before.

    Am I missing something?

Apparently not. It appears completely dysfunctional.
Until your question, I have never looked at installing fonts this way. But I see what you mean, there's no way to build a Xarainfo folder with the required .png thumbnails and various *.txt index files.

The filetype drop down is also totally blank in all versions I have installed.

I'll report this and we'll see if an answer is forthcoming

The font utility is designed for use with the Fonts provided when you install a Xara application. I do not think it was ever intended to be a general font utility.

That would make some sense I suppose. If you only installed a limited number of fonts from the CD. Thanks You Steve and Bill. Obviously I'm not going completely mad.
