Default First attempt at drawing a sword

I was so inspired by some of the artists armor artwork on TG that I decided to draw a sword. The picture labeled soared 1 was my first attempt at drawing a sword.

I shared my work with a fellow artist (Black Panther) that was kind enough to share some of his expertise in vector drawing and gave me a few suggestions on how to make the sword look a little more realistic. After a few redraws, this is what I came up with in sword 2. This is a tribute to the value of this forum and the fellow artists that are willing to help. Thank you Black Panther for your help.

Note: the sword was drawn without the use of any bitmap fills or use of the bevel tool. Everything was done using fills, shading and transparency's.

How about the stones? Are they bitmap?

Great job Paul, there is something that sparks the imagination when drawing ancient artifacts. BP is a great teacher and you have grasped his teaching well. The sword blends in well with the stone background. Well done

The Swords look great! The second does look like it has more depth.
