    Howdy Jinny,

In general there are just too many buggy things in painter for me to trust them. Especially in this day and age when things usually work.

I do agree some issues are more critical but every issue will be critical to someone. I found a new bug last night. It crashed painter three times before I decided to work around it. It doesn't seem like a big deal but is annoyed me as I had not saved the document and I needed to get the job done. I was putting some drop shadows on a beveled frame. I ungrouped everything to make it easier for painter but it didn't help. I was using two shadows and I needed to delted parts of each. The easiest way was to select long rectangular selections and hit delete. I got strange missing bits appear (see attatched screenshot) the some missing bits didn't appear until I clicked on other layers. Other bits disappeared from unrelated layers. In the end I just erased what I didn't want.

I am sure a lot of work went into the brushes. The artists oils and others are very good indeed. Sadly it seems Corel put the 'b' team on the other stuff.

Take the create drop shadow menu command. It could make a button that said "drop shadow" but instead it makes a button that says "create drop sha" Sometimes buttons just don't work at all.

Bevel world should have been made to show as a reference layer not the finished product a long long time ago. Using a bevel on a 300 dpi image is torture.

I'll get back to you on the bezier tools.

Every time the back of the pen gets near the pad my brush disappears. What is even more annoying is that I find my nib end brush has turned into an eraser spontaneously. It also seems to often default to an eraser. This is very peculiar considering that Painter has been so closely associated with wacom.

Well I don't know about you but it is no convenient to continuously lock and unlock everything. Can you give me any instance at all where one would want to mark a hidden layer?

I can't even make scripts work for simple commands.

With regards to type on a circle. Just make a cirular shape and reduce its opacit to use as a reference layer. Then just move the bezier type control to make a circle as if you were making it with bezier tools. ie. put a smooth point on the top bottom and both sides. However where it begins and ends the points need to overlap and the handles are separate so you need to use a guide to line them up.

    Thanks Jinny,

I looked up the Toolbox Commands. That works fine. Seems redundant to have Alt Spacebar and the E command. I was wondering how to go back to the brush, too. Rich

    Jinny,

If I were to be a beta tester I'd feel like a collaborator. How many upgrades has it been that the scripts don't work? Do you really expect me to believe that corel give a damn.

Bezier tools, what's wrong. Well try drawing a heart shape. You'll soon find out. Enclosed photo is a heart drawn in Photoshop 5, not renowned as a specialist drawing program (black) and a heart drawn in painter (red) Believe it or not but you have no choice but to go through the strange convoluted method shown instead of being able to place each bit the correct way first time.
