Just learned something about the extended value of that layers gallery, Steve ... thank you again. On H tags I was always able in FP and Expr Web to define the font characteristics of any tags so I assumed I could do so here as well as I would have very rare reason to use 24pt type as io the cas of H1 ... the size increase was one thing but the text also jumped out of place even as an individual element.

    G'day Jessica,

At 68 and having been online and creating websites since the start (1993) of the net as we know it to be today, I guess I'm the great grand-daddy of the forum So, like others have mentioned, SEO is a subject all on it's own. To become good at Optimising pages for search engines, is a job in it's self, ssomething that people specialise in. On the net you will find a number of people claiming to be SEO professionals but...All these people are, are marketers trying to sell a book, or a video, created by another SEO expert, on SEO!
Let me tell you a true story. For many years I had bred and entered for shows, Canaries. I decided to create a website to help other Canary breeders. So I created the Canary site: http://mycanaries.com, (it's no longer active and I stoped renewing the name some time back) Anyway, from shortly after posting the site, mycanaries could always be found on the front page of Google and other search engines, in the top three or five spots!
That site grew into a pretty large site and I had many members (everything was free, no charge for anything) But then a SEO expert contacted me and suggested I change my HTML canary site to PHP, so I changed "everything" to PHP. That in turn lost me all my earlier page ranking (I had converted everything to PHP so index.html became index.php and so-forth) Anyway, mycanaries.com droped off Google and all other SE's, after three weeks, I contacted the helpfull SEO expert, the same one who advised me to convert everything to PHP. He talked me into joining his PHP membership site at $75us per month, he also said "he" would edit my PHP Canary site and get it listed back where it was on Google, and other search engines, when it was a HTML based site! Three months later, mycanaries.com was still around the bottom of the 38999999999 page of Google...And other search engines.
Shortly thereafter I became quite ill and was hospitalised, all my canaries had to go and after that, I seen no sence in keeping the domain name, so I let it lapse.
I think you see the moto in my true story! If your clients have any listing with Google or whoever, don't you go chaanging "anything". Let your clients contact a SEO expert and do any work the SEO expert recommends! That way, your in the clear...if the clients site drops off the net.

By the way, since then, I've bought quite a few books and courses on SEO...Have they made me a SEO expert? No way! So be careful in chosing a SEO expert...They are not all created equal.

    Good luck,

    Bill AU

Great story Bill ... sorry for your health issues & loss though.

But you make a great point about the "experts" ... who are really only 'expert' at marketing their schlock to a vulnerable audience.

Bottom line is that it doesn't matter a whit what software you use or what file extensions you have ... if you have good, credible, original content (written) then the SEs will index it and it will be enduring ... even if it is old ... I've had that experience myself.

Jessica ... the true bottom line for SEO is honesty ... not fancy tricks, linking or anything else. If the content of a site is good ... the SE results will follow.

The only "trick" to SEO is enhancing the ability of the SEs to understand and index most effectively the content.

    Cheers
    Paul
