Help - reducing PNG file size for background image

Hello,

I'm really having a hard time reducing the size of the PNG image that I'm using in my horizontally tiled background...

I can independently control all images but this one I cant?

Its a transparent PNG (that I have attached, but it gets converted to JPG?!?)

Any way if any one can help me the test site is here (look at the background) its a big selling point in the current level of the design...

No, it's still a PNG

Any time there is transparency, WD will always export as PNG.

Very well understood, lets say I want have the same effect of the faded texture but not be so heavy (curent size 425 kb)... when I turn it in to a jpeg the gradient degrades and looks ugly...

any other suggestions?

Arrgh! Sorry. I completely misunderstood your comment about PNG turns into JPG.
You mean't the attached file in your post..

OK, well I downloaded the 424kb PNG and saved as JPG at 90% quality which to my eye looks fine.
The JPG size is 53.5kb

can you share your sample, I can't get it to be from white (on top) to texture (on bottom) I get gray on top...

It loads fast and the image is a small thing!!!!

Hi,
Haven't done anything with the posted Image but if iit is intended for a Background tile then the image could even be made narrower(sp) as long as it is kept to even pixels widths and still render nice as background. this also would decrease the file size.
