The Blend Tool is one of Xara's gifts to the imagination. At times when I can't think of something specific to draw I'll often make a complex blend and see what happens. In this case I zoomed in until having the feeling of being engulfed by the blend.

Hope it gives someone some ideas.

    Regards, Ross

Lovely image. And yes it does open the eyes to what could be possible. Could blends be the greatest unsung feature in Xara?

It's great to see something like this that makes you think "wow, I didn't know that was possible!".

    Thanks ;-) Colin

How did you accomplish this blend? This is quite nice!

Thanks for all the kind comments!

The blend was created between two 'quickshapes'. One was small and on top of the other. Those quickshapes started as star-like shapes but I pulled the sides/points around to make them complex snowflake-like thingies. Both were given high levels of transparency (like 98%) and the blend has 50 or 60 steps. What some might not realize is you can still edit the shapes from which the blend is produced -- from within the blend. (You select one end shape by selecting the blend, then using the tab key to select either end shape alone). When you edit within the blend, the blend regenerates on the fly making the process an interactive experience. It can be fun! Try it!

    Regards, Ross
