How to keep original image names when exporting to HTML

We often see questions and comments about Xara Web Designer or Xara Xtreme changing the names of imported images by exporting them as numerical names and thus raising SEO concerns.

Here's a very simple method which can be used to retain original image names.

Do you know any way to use ALT TAGS for images??

There is no such TAG called ALT.
You mean the ALT 'attribute' to the <IMG tag - also known as ALT Text

This is applied via the Web Properties>>Image>> Image Caption (Alt Text) field

It's a common mistake.
Saying ALT tag and TITLE attribute in the same breath is pure nonsense.

ALT is not a TAG, it is an *attribute* of the IMG tag.
You cannot have a TAG within an unclosed TAG.

Alt Tag
The term "alt tag" is sometimes incorrectly used instead of the correct term " alt attribute". Actually as hard core developers will tell you, in HTML their is no such thing as an "alt tag". Technically, tags are things like <p> or </p> that you use to mark up your page and the alt attribute sits inside a tag, like this: <img alt="" / >. Calling an attribute a tag is a common mistake.

However, this has been covered in other threads and is off topic for this thread which is about retaining original image names.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, this is brilliant just the solution I have been looking for

Just had a play following your instructions and it works an absolute treat, the only thing I would note is it is better to scale your image to the right size first easily done in Xara anyhow, I tend to use an awful lot of stock images that tend to come in huge resolutions for quality purposes I did notice that even though the first image drappged and dropped you can reduce in size but when you use the replace with image for the placeholder it uses the image at the full resolution then downscales it "on the fly" if you like to the size of the placeholder, this resulted fro me anyhow in quite large jpg's.

As said though easy enough to re-scale the image before using it and a great way of keeping everything nice and neat and tidy.

Yes I would definitely agree when full resolution images straight off a digital camera card are being used.

Just noticed something else as well, possibly me doing something wrong but I cant seem to add any photo pop ups or anything to any of the pictures, I seem to be applying them to the paceholder rather than the image itself.
