I am using WD6 having upgraded from WD5, so I am fairly familiar with the procedures.

I am trying to make a piece of text e.g "Sample" into a link.

I have followed all the ways of doing this, selecting the letter, clicking on the Web Properties etc but it doesn't become a link.

I have tried grouping the letters, soft grouping the letters but to no avail.

I can get it to work with an imported button but not with text or even a shape.

The help file says that after clicking on selected text to click on the chain symbol and the dialogue will come up with the link feature already selected. That does not happen.

Please what am I doing wrong?

Forget it, After posting the problem I went back to my project and brought up the layers tool don't know why really.

Inexplicably, because I don't have any layers in this project, the background was selected. when I changed the selection to "mouseoff" everything worked.

Although selecting the chain link on the tool bar only brings up the dialogue. Nothing is selected.
