Default Fountain Fills settings - how to ?

    Hello,

I am a complete newbie to Xara Xtreme Pro. I found some tutorials on the web to teach myself.

I can't figure out how to accomplish what is shown in the tutorial on this page:

    http://www.xaraxone.com/tutorials/feb/page06-2.htm

On the right hand side it shows two transitions that (apparently) consist of 3 or 4 colors (not sure about the number of colors). I've read the help file, clicked everywhere I could think of but, I find nothing that would allow me to enter the values shown at 0, 25, 60, 100. I've tried the fill "Linear"/"simple"/"Fade" but it only allows me to have two colors on the path which don't seem to be enough to reproduce the result shown on that page. I've also tried 3 and 4 colors unsuccessfully. Also, I have not found where to click that would allow me to set the colors precisely at 0, 25, 60 and 100, when I drag colors on the fill path, nothing shows me the coordinate where the color starts.

If someone would be so kind to tell me the exact steps to follow to obtain what is shown on that page, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    John.

You can do a linear fill and click on the line to add more colours

Neodeist, thank you for the help. That got me to get the right colors.

What I still don't see is how to set them exactly at 0, 25, 60, and 100. I don't see a way to control the exact location where the color is set. If there is a way to choose the relative coordinate on the fill line and you know how, I'd be very pleased to find out.

    Thanks again,

    John.

Thank you for the welcome. Indeed the tutorial is old, I figured that since I am old too, it would suit me well.

    that's the issue I think

you can't simply enter coordinates like that in the current version of xtreme AFAIK

I think the colour co-ordinates are just positions on the line, i.e. 25% along, 60% along etc, which you have to estimate. I used a screenshot of the gradient, clicked on each 'node' and used the eye-dropper tool

Another cross-post - I'm telling you what you know

    Thanks!

Knowing that there is no way to enter the exact coordinate is very helpful.

Keeps me from going crazy trying to find a way to do that. (I believe that CorelDraw has a way to enter the exact coordinate and I was looking for the same thing in Xara).
