alsnow, welcome to TalkGraphics. If you can save and attache your XAR file maybe we can see what's going on with your gradient fill. Until then I'm attaching an XX5 file with a linear gradient so you can see how it is accomplished. I'm also attaching a video from Xara.com, it's an introductory movie showing how to fill objects entitled Fills: Using linear, circular, elliptical and conical fills

I hope this helps you out,
    Harry

Thanks Steve (again!). It took me a couple of tries, but, I finally figured out which BB Code tag you used for the different player. The video playback works much better and smoother now that it's been changed. Notes have been added to my BB Code reference printout.

do not make the border value '0' - make the border value 'none'

a border [outline] value of 0 will still give you a visible border - it does not actually mean no-outline [ this is covered in the help section]

    does this help?

Change your units to pixels and you can see that the position and rectangle size are not whole pixels.

Fractional pixels result in antialiasing to the drawing area colour, in this case to White. This is causing your problem.

Change the rectangle size and position so they are whole pixels.

The png format isn't a magic formula to circumvent the laws of computer graphics.
